Expert Answers about Jayco Designer Fifth Wheel

  • Towing a Can Am Side by Side with a Fifth Wheel's Hitch
  • It looks like the combined weight of your trailer and Can Am is 3100 pounds. The Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receive, part # C13701, has a maximum towing capacity of 5000 pounds (6000 with a weight distribution system). There should be no problem with this setup. Of course, you need to check your owner's manual to ensure that your 2009 Jayco Designer Fifth Wheel can handle that weight. You also need to check your state's regulations to see if they allow towing something behind a fifth...

  • To install the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System w Touchpad and Remote - 4-Point Set # LC358590 on your 2005 Jayco with an enclosed underbelly will basically just require you to open up the underbelly section where you'd install the rear jacks so that it can install and operate. • The Go Power Portable Solar Panel with Digital Solar Controller - 130 Watt Solar Panel # 34282730 is only compatible with 12v battery systems so you would need to wire your two 6v batteries in series to boost the voltage to 12v (pictured below). If you have any other questions please feel free to reach back out.

  • Solution for Trailer that Sits Nose High When Towed to Level and Use Lippert Ground Control
  • You really need to get your trailer to sit level when you are towing. What you'll want to achieve is at least 6 inches of clearance between the trailer overhang and the bed rails of the truck with the trailer sitting as level as possible. The Lippert Ground Control Leveling System part # LC358590 that you referenced is a great leveling system but it is not designed to overcome a nose high trailer due to your situation. The rear jacks aren't designed to lift the rear wheels off the ground...

  • Identifying Trailer Axle on 2003 Jayco Designer 32 RLTS 5th Wheel
  • From what I have found, the 2003 Jayco Designer 32 RLTS has a GVWR of 13,500 lbs. The tandem axles will have enough capacity to handle the GVWR but typically subtract the pin weight from the GVWR. I was unable to find the pin weight, but using 15-20% of your GVWR you probably have 5,200 lb or 6,000 lb axles with 6k being the more likely of the two. I recommend checking out the axle tag on your existing axles to verify this information. The capacity is typically listed on the axle tag....

  • How To Choose Correct Replacement Leaf Springs for Jayco Designer 5th Wheel
  • In order to choose the correct replacement leaf springs for a trailer you'll need to know the axle capacity and unloaded length, the number of leaves is not really pertinent. The 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles part # e94SR for example measures 26" long eye to eye unloaded and is designed for 6,000 lbs axles. The axle capacity can be found on the axle tag in the center of the beam.

  • Correct Wiring Adapter To Install Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller on 1999 Ford F-350
  • In order to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller part # RED24FR on a 1999 Ford F-350 you will need the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers part # RED87FR. The plug that you will need to find under the dash will match that on the end of the adapter. I am not sure which round connector you are referencing but if you can send a photo I might be able to inform on what it is used for.

  • Recommended Replacement For A Coleman Rooftop AC Unit
  • If you're just wanting to replace the rooftop unit and maintain your current air distribution box and thermostat then you can replace it with a Furrion unit along with a white harness adapter since Coleman units use a 9-pin connector and Furrion only uses a 6-pin connector. We don't have a crossover sheet to look up any info with the model or serial number so I was able to determine the BTU rating. The rating should be somewhere on the same sticker that the model number was on and you can...

  • Repair Kit for Atwood Landing Gear Leg
  • Atwood was sold to Dometic a few years back and replacement parts for older landing gear are scarce. We do still have Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear repair kit for the follow jack that will fit, part # LG-146060. For a lead jack repair kit use # LG-146059. Since repair parts will eventually be unavailable for this landing gear I suggest you consider replacing the setup with a new one such as # RVLG-8HDL which is rated for 8K. A motor kit can be added using part # LC142178.

  • Replacement Axles for a 2010 Jayco Designer 5th Wheel Trailer
  • I do have an option for you but we do not have a standard axle that would work on your 2010 Jayco Designer 5th wheel trailer. Instead, you would want to look into one of our Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Systems like part # TASR7KS01. This system will actually replace the leaf springs on your trailer with a set of aeon springs that will work to absorb road shock and support the trailer's load better than the traditional leaf springs would. In order to add brakes you can use the...

  • Can Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers K71-654-00 Be Used To Replace Equalizers On 2003 Jayco Designer 31RLS
  • There is a way to allow you to replace the factory cast equalizer on your 2003 Jayco Designer 31RLS 5th wheel trailer with the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers. Since your current equalizers are just over 6-1/4" long you will need to use longer shackle straps to make up the difference as the # K71-654-00 only work with equalizers up to 6-1/4" long. Since you mentioned your factory shackles are 2-3/8" long you can replace them with the 2-3/4" long # TRSL275 which will put you in the useable...

  • Troubleshooting No Power to Jacks With Generator
  • Sorry to hear about the hair loss but I'm sure it can grow back after you figure out the issue. It sounds like you have narrowed it down quite a bit if the switch, fuses and motor all seem to be fine and the jacks work when plugged into the truck. I don't know what jacks you have, what generator you are using or how the jacks are connected but the wiring seems like the only thing that can be causing the problem. Either you do not have a good ground somewhere or you have crimped or broken...

  • Recommended Switch for Wiring New LED Light Strips Inside Cargo Trailer
  • We do have a nice selection of switches that may work well to control the new LED light strips inside your cargo trailer. You will just need to make sure you choose a switch that is rated properly for the draw of your lights. Since LED lights aren't going to draw much power at all, going with a 10 amp switch like the Pollak Light-Duty Toggle Switch # PK34513 should be enough, but you will want to check to make sure. This is a really nice toggle switch that includes mounting hardware and...
